You must make references to specific scenes in the story and you must have references to outside sources. You must write originally and not plagiarize from other sources. Aim to write a total of 500 words (about 1.5 pages). Your work will be presented to the class.
- On page 219, the boys chant, “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” Explain the context of the scene: why do they make this chant, based on what you have read in the story so far? If you were in this situation, how would you react? Explain a negative experience when you were part of a group, and relate the theme to current events and society today.
- On page 225, Piggy says, “It was an accident.” What do you think Piggy means with this quote, based on what you have read in the story so far? Do you think that this “accident” could have been prevented? Explain a time when you made a mistake, and relate the theme to current events and society today.
