You must make references to specific scenes in the story and you must have references to outside sources. You must write originally and not plagiarize from other sources. Aim to write a total of 500 words (about 1.5 pages). Your work will be presented to the class.
- On page 28, the boys demand to “have a vote”. Explain the context of the scene: what do you think of the result of their decision, based on what you have read in the story so far? Do you think democracy is the best way to solve problems? Explain a time when you have voiced your opinion on an important issue, and relate the theme to current events today.
- On page 62, Piggy asks, “How can you expect to be rescued if you don’t put first things first and act proper?” What do you think Piggy means with this quote, based on what you have read in the story so far? Explain a time when you felt like you were the only one to understand the situation while nobody else paid attention to you, and relate the theme to our society today.
