This course explores the history of Canada, focusing on the development of our national identity and culture, along with the identities and cultures of the diverse groups that form Canada. Students will examine key events and developments, both within Canada and internationally, from precontact times to the present. They will study various communities across Canada and their contributions to the nation's identity and heritage. The course emphasizes the evolution of culture and identity, including the national identity, and how these aspects have transformed over time. Through this, students will enhance their understanding of historical thinking and inquiry, including interpreting and analyzing evidence, as they explore the individuals, events, and forces that have shaped Canada's history.
