IELTS Academic: Writing

IELTS academic writing is designed primarily for educational purposes. The IELTS Academic exam is the standardized test component that many students will take, with post-secondary institutions often requiring at least 6.5 overall and no component (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) under 6.0. Some universities require an even higher score. 

There are two writing tasks. Task 1 often requires a response to a visual diagram such as a graph or chart. Task 2 requires an essay in response to a point of view, argument, or problem. The below videos might be useful in explaining these writing tasks:
